Carbon Offsets

We have partnered with Zerofootprint, a Toronto-based sustainability organization, to neutralize the carbon footprint of all land transportation components of our trips. Our purchase of carbon offsets supports a large scale forest restoration project in Maple Ridge, BC. Since 2008, we have offset 7,775 tonnes of carbon dioxide, which is approximately the same amount of CO2 emitted from the consumption of 18,000 barrels of oil or 3,300,000 litres of gasoline.

On the Road

We are dedicated to environmental education and incorporate an environmental message into our trips. During the trip, our Tour Leaders engage students in discussions to better understand their carbon footprint and the importance of their actions while on the road.

We Practice What we Preach

Our commitment to the environment starts at home. Our Office is BOMA Go Green Plus certified, offering our colleagues the opportunity to participate in various recycling programs, safe battery and light bulb disposal and composting. Our many efforts are part of a wider sustainability initiative being undertaken by TUI Travel PLC.

Community

In our commitment to the larger community, our office staff department challenge to collect non-perishable food items for the holidays resulted in an extremely generous contribution to the Parkdale Food Bank. With our change of company name and logo, all our old branded jackets and sweaters were donated to a local church. On July 9th, Brightspark was a proud sponsor for "Free to Run 2011" with all run proceeds going to Free the Children. In addition, we also sponsored all clients and staff members interested in running the 10K or 5K races.
